Nubian Square is a 90,000 sq ft vacant parking lot in the neighborhood of Roxbury in Boston. Roxbury has the lowest household income out of all 23 neighborhoods in Boston. The goal was to design 100 affordable housing units with a plethora of community-shared spaces ranging from public markets to farm plots. My proposal raised the housing above the ground to increase the flow of human traffic. The housing blocks sat on top of diagonal stair circulation blocks - which served as entry points for residences. Each block contains rooftop lap pools to increase access to affordable swimming lessons and education.
